How to propose in Branson
There are two types of proposals, at least when there is a photographer involved. The first is a planned photoshoot that turns into a surprise proposal. The shoot is either set up by the person who is proposing or even another family member or friend. About half of the proposals that I photograph are planned photoshoots.
Here is another surprise! Morgan had no idea that I was there.
Most of the time, there will be a backstory such as winning a free photoshoot from a vacation company, from the photographer, or something along those lines! I’ve also done a couple of shoots that were “birthday” photoshoots but turned into a proposal. 😉
This was another photoshoot where the proposal was a complete surprise for Kaitlyn!
The second kind of proposal is what I call a “hide in the bushes” proposal. This is where the girl (or guy!) doesn’t know what is coming. I make plans to meet at a specific time and place with the person planning the proposal, and generally, pretend to be doing something else. Whenever the time is right, I will capture the proposal.
Rebecca thought her mom had won a free photo session, but Brad had other plans.
While the second type of proposal can be more difficult to plan, it’s also the best way to go if you think they might suspect anything. A lot of people worry that the person being proposed to is going to catch on, but I promise you that I’ve been shooting Branson proposals for a while and I’m very good at avoiding any attention. I’ve also shot dozens of proposals and never once missed anything. It’s all part of having a good plan. So far, I have a 100% record of the surprise actually being a surprise.
Should you hire a photographer for your proposal?
As a Branson photographer who specializes in proposals, I am going to say yes. 😉 That being said, most people do want photos of their proposal and if your significant other is one of those people, they have probably hinted at it! You can read more about why to hire a photographer for your Branson proposal here.
Haily thought they were just doing a couples shoot at Top of the Rock, nope!!!
Do proposals ever go bad?
Well, I’m sure it’s possible. However, I can safely say that none of my proposals have ever gone badly, and all couples that I have worked with are either married or currently planning weddings. Since I travel all over the country, I even get to photograph some of their weddings, which is absolutely the best!
